2025-0214 Soccer Boys Varsity Playoff | Waterford vs Riverbank
For those of you who don’t know, Thursday and Friday were an absolute whirlwind for me. Months ago I’d scheduled a sort of birthday outing with my dad. Me, my brother and my boys would head down to Fresno, pick up my dad and see the Globetrotters at the Save Mart Center. It was going to be the Thursday night before Valentine’s day, but no big deal since the boys had the following day off. Then I got contacted about shooting a courthouse wedding in SLO for the morning of the 14th by a young lady whose 8th grade and senior photos I’d taken. No worries. I’ll make it work! THEN boys soccer made it into playoffs which would be…the night of the 14th! After nearly 12 hours driving, 656 miles, and 2.5 hours sleep, I made it home with just enough time to change out my gear and my clothes so that I could zip on out to those bright, beautiful lights at the Oakdale stadium for the big game (Hey, I’m a photographer, light is incredibly important to me, although TBH even theirs have the frequency flicker). Got there a few minutes late so I missed the first goals for each team but I was there for the rest of it. The guys gave it their all, and were up 2-1 at half, but Riverbank came away with too many good looks on goal during the second. Many thanks to the guys soccer team for all of your kind words and support you’ve had over the season. It’s been a privilege getting to vicariously relive my own glory days on the pitch through recording your journey.
