2025-0219 Baseball Varsity | Ripon Christian at Waterford
I need to take a moment to thank all of the people that have so graciously allowed me to cover events at Waterford and the surrounding schools this year. From coaches and staff, to the players and parents, without your support I wouldn’t be able to announce this milestone.

This game marks my first offering as a MaxPreps photographer. About a month ago I went in search of how I could cover playoffs and sections only to discover that it is limited to certain approved professionals, among them are MaxPreps credentialed photographers, (MaxPreps is a part of CBS Sports and by extension Paramount Global). They have contracts with leagues all over the US that allow MaxPreps photographers access to all lower level sports, and it is from this pool of photographers that those covering the biggest matches are chosen. The reason; MaxPreps only accepts 8% of applicants from across the country. Learning that, I heaved an accustomed sigh, closed the browser and started considering how I could best take pictures from the stands, already admitting defeat. Besides, did I really think I was in that 8%? I would need better gear, more experience, and who knows what all else. It was simply out of reach.

Before I could give up entirely, an angry voice piped up in the back of my head and demanded that I count how many sporting events I’d already covered. I humored the ghostly apparition of hope, and started counting. 100. At that time, I’d photographed 100 events of soccer, cross country, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and football just this school year. “How much more experience do you need?” my better self grumbled. And so, I filled out the application and submitted my sample photos. A couple weeks later I was asked to submit a test gallery. A month on and I just had my first gallery approved, this gallery.

So, to everyone that believed in me, helped me, or even simply humored me as I snapped your picture, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Let’s Shoot!

Team photos often don’t convey the uniqueness of your athlete. Why not book a sports centered portrait session filled with dramatic light and special effects?
